SAG nominations – statistics overview

We have the SAG nominations and there are a lot of talking points, including the three best actor nominations for Succession, the Kristen Stewart snub, and the West Side Story snub for best ensemble. But on this page we will focus on the different trivia and records set by this year’s nominees. Here are the talking points.

Ted Lasso and Succession reach the top

Only seven TV shows has managed to gain five nominations in a single year. But two of those are from this year’s nominees since both Ted Lasso and Succession gained the five nominations this year. Last year also saw to shows with five nominations (The Crown and Schitt’s Creek), so of the seven shows with most nominations in a single year, four of them have been nominated during the past two years.

The record for most wins in a single year is three, held by five TV shows. Interestingly enough The Sopranos is the only show to win three out of their five nominations.

Three actresses reach 10th individual nomination

Only four actresses and one actor have more than 10 individual SAG nominations. And so far only two actresses have had exactly 10 individual nominations. But now three more has joined the 10 individual nominations club – Cate Blanchett (Nightmare Alley), Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos) and Kate Winslet (Mare of Easttown).

Cate Blanchett also received a cast nomination for Don’t Look Up, which means she is now in the top five of the most nominated actresses. She is tied in fifth place with Allison Janney and Elisabeth Moss who also gained two nominations this year for The Handmaid’s Tale.

Juliana Margulies (The Morning Show) also received a nomination, which means she ties with Alec Baldwin as the most nominated individual in SAG history. Meryl Streep (Don’t Look Up) also gained a nomination which means she now ties for fifth place with David Hyde Pierce.

Steve Carell’s nomination for The Morning Show ties him with Kelsey Grammer as the seventh most nominated individual and the third most nominated actor.

The five most nominated people for film all received nominations this year. They are Meryl Streep (Don’t Look Up), Cate Blanchett (Don’t Look Up and Nightmare Alley), Jude Dench (Belfast), Leonardo DiCaprio (Don’t Look Up) and Kate Winslet (Mare of Easttown). Winslet however did not receive a film nomination this year, only a TV nomination.
